Summary
Prairie City CRC seeks a dedicated Pastor with a deep and vibrant faith to lead our church family. The Pastor will be the primary point of contact for the church and be directly involved in the daily activities and needs of the church. We desire an effective communicator with relational strength able to share brokenness. Our church seeks a pastor that possesses strong theological knowledge, excellent preaching skills, and a heart for pastoral care and missions. This position requires a deep commitment to Prairie City CRC’s shared values as followers of Christ and His word, as well as a passion for helping our
community grow in faith and understanding of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Responsibilities
1. Preaching and Worship Leadership

• Prepare and deliver engaging sermons that inspire and challenge the congregation.

• Plan and lead regular worship services, including special services and events.

• Open and flexible to new options for worship.

2. Pastoral Care

• Provide spiritual guidance, counseling, and support to church family.

• Visit members in homes, hospitals, and other settings as needed.

• Prepare, facilitate and conduct baptisms, weddings, and funerals.

3. Discipleship and Spiritual Formation

• Participate and be able to nurture small group ministries.

• Encourage and equip the Saints to take on leadership roles.

4. Community Engagement

• Foster relationships within the community and actively be involved in the local ministerial association of church leaders.

• Participate in community service initiatives.

• Promote outreach programs to connect with and serve the wider community.

5. Leadership and Administration

• Collaborate with the Council and to set and achieve the church’s vision and goals.

• Attend and participate in Monthly Elders and Council meetings

• Be involved in church administration, operation and communication.

• Oversee part time church staff

• Provide guidance and support for and volunteers.

• Participate in Classis responsibilities as necessary

• Participate in regular meetings with Pastoral Relations committee to receive and give feedback

6. Communication

• Maintain effective communication with the congregation

• Be accessible and approachable to church members and the community.

Qualifications

• Loves and lives with the Lord as demonstrated in a strong faith, prayer life and spiritual vitality that draws existing and new members closer to the Holy Spirit.

• In agreement with the CRCNA covenant for office bearers.

• High level organizational leadership skills

• Ability to engage and work collaboratively with all age groups

• Excellent and effective communication and listening skills

• Kind, caring, compassionate and approachable

• Inspirational leader with a heart for service and th ability to motivate others in their faith journey.​
